Jan. 10: 2013 American Legion Department of Illinois Annual Caravan to Visit With Thousands of Veterans

National Vice Commander David R. Hall to update on national issues

In line with the goal of continuing a legacy of service U.S. military veterans and their families, the American Legion Department of Illinois will be kicking off its annual caravan, with 19 currrently scheduled Post stops and numerous visits to V.A. clinics around the state.

According to National Vice Commander David R. Hall, "This annual event provides us with direct contact with our members, whose activities in their communities make the difference for thousands of veterans and their families throughout the year, and open the doors to potential members who can learn how to get involved in supporting the critical work of the American Legion."

Vital communications about topics such as veterans' healthcare, employment and career fairs information, operational changes and membership are covered. A key initiative during the year that received widespread attention is the Veterans Special Programs American National Network, also known as V-SPANN, which is endeavoring to create a centralized communications channel for veterans.
